 Day  2 Make notations while viewing the film versions of the story.  Follow Film Guidelines (64).
 Day  3 Discussion of major differences between the film version of the novel.

1.  Focus:                        Journal: Can you think of a modern trial where law failed to
                                        achieve justice?  For example, was O. J. Simpsonís acquittal for murder justice?

2.  Objective:                  To participate in a comparison-contrast discussion of the film and opera
                                         of the story and to write a follow-up contrast essay.

3.  Purpose:                    To  recognize and to explain the differences between film interpretations of two 
                                         versions of the novel and the original story.

4.  Input:                         o  Before viewing the film: Plot-check quiz of the short story 
                                         followed by discussion of two basic questions of interpretation.

                                         o  Film and opera versions of the novel

5. Modeling:                    After viewing the films: Model some examples on OH of how 
                                         to write a few differences between the film and the story.

6. Checking for              Review guidelines for writing differences between the film version
understanding:              and the original story.

7. Guided                        After viewing the film: Discussion of the significance of major
practice:                          differences between the film versions of the novel.

8. Closure:                      Comparison-contrast follow-up essay and/or a movie review
                                         of the film (see Lesson 1 for guidelines).
